teams camping kit choices

By Agnes and Nick Hellwig

The GoSee team get their buzz out of being campers for all reasons and seasons with a variety of gear and tow tugs. Company camping kit in the last seven years includes four Jayco caravans a Heritage, Sterling, Discovery and Westport, an Oz Tent, Southern Cross Cabin Tent and now a Southern Cross Condor Camper Trailer. The Condor Camper Trailer is 25 years old but purchased in as new condition, as the original owners upgraded to a holiday home not long after buying it.

Nick and I had been looking for a way to keep enjoying the camping experience, but wanted a quick and easy set up option suitable for touring with a minimum of fuss. I saw the Condor during a random website search, and immediately felt it ticked all the boxes.

The 6ft x 8ft Condor has a built in kitchen with sink and stove, a Dometic Chescold 3-way fridge, plenty of storage under the seats, and it comes with two zip-on annexes with built in floor for extra space if and as required. But even without the annexes the Condor is perfectly comfortable and self-contained for overnight stays, and sets up in just a few minutes.

Nick modified the east-west bed by adding a pull-out board the same width as the seat which can be pulled out and across, to make either two single beds or a double as needed. ADP Caravan Services in Kilsyth made new foam mattresses to order – 2 ft 6in x 4ft with separate 2ft 6in x 2ft ends that Velcro on for sleeping, and in the daytime make great back rests.

We decided to try out our new acquisition at Venus Bay Caravan Park in Victoria. Owners Fenna and Jacob have upgraded their Ensuite Sites with new ensuite bathrooms from Jayco, which are the best ensuites I have seen to date – room to move, large sink with lots of storage and shelf space, hangers, continuous hot water and good lighting. Bathmat was also provided.

Venus Bay Caravan Park has large, well grassed powered and ensuite sites, excellent Jayco cabins and good facilities including a pool, TV/Games room, Camp kitchen and a well stocked kiosk including a range of giftware and jewellery. The beach is just a short walk away, and there are restaurants, take away food and groceries etc just down the street.

We arrived in quite hot weather, so after setting up the Condor Camper Trailer we made use of the portable Transcool 12v evaporative air cooler which Nick saw and fell in love with when we went to Sandown Leisurefest.

Although the weather changed to wet and showery for most of the weekend, the park was full with lots of young families, including our daughter, son-in-law and baby, and a great time was had by all!

Editors Note: GoSee includes a selection of pictures from company camping experiences.
