Laid back GoSee cruises to Tasmania across Coxy's wet lawn Coxy gives the GoSee wheel a spin at the Caulfield Supershow |
GoSee is at sea bound for Devonport Tasmania and a 12day tour of Australia's island state. GoSee will call on 13 Tasmanian Tourist Parks towing our Jayco Discovery pop-top caravan around Tasmania.
This is the kind of day that Geoff 'Coxy' Cox talks about when he chats at caravan and camping shows about taking a cruise.
It is a perfect day for a boat ride. Bright blue. Light southerly breeze.
Bass Strait is as flat as a wet lawn and the red and white ferry we are riding slips along at 27 knots. Autumn with its settled weather is a great time to travel Victoria and Tasmania. Bass Strait is lazy and so is the ship and its passengers. There is a gentle roll to the slow motion of being on the water.
We started from Belmont, Geelong at 6am with the GoSee Jayco Discovery pop-top behind our reliable Captiva GLX SUV auto diesel and rolled in over Westgate Bridge to the Todd Rd turn-off which leads to Port Melbourne, Station Pier and the Tasmanian ferry experience.
It is slow going in the Melbourne city traffic so an early start certainly helps. We were security checked. Our fruit and vegetables were eaten or passed on to good homes and at about 8.15am we made it to the lower deck of the vehicle ferry.

GoSee joins the queue for Tasmania 142 |
The ferry left late by about 45 minutes and Devonport is expected to greet us about 7pm.
GoSee has a good broadband connection from our 'office' on Deck 10.
We have had to reboot our laptops three times since we left Port Melbourne but the ferry has its own Next G transmission which is the result of a recently completed upgrade so it is not too bad.
We have not bothered with a cabin or booking seats. Deck 10 is a good spot with excellent water views, singer and band, bar and passable sandwiches and pasties.
The children are happy because a cartoonist is drawing Tasmanian animals and testing their Tassie knowledge as he goes along.
We have 240 Volt power plus table and chairs for our laptops, digital cameras and mobile phones so as usual when we are on the road it is business as usual after an extended session at the Victorian Caravan Camping and Touring Supershow at Caulfield last week.
Now our plan is to highlight the point of difference for each of the 13 tourist parks we will see.
Each of the Tasmanian Tourist Parks will feature in the GoSee articles along with local tours and attractions within their area. The parks are providing special on-line booking service to site visitors to make booking their Tasmanian holiday as easy as possible with a direct booking hyperlink from the GoSeeAustralia website.
