Did a Thermos like this save Australia's legendary aviator Charles Kingsford Smith

Kingsford Smith

Legend has it that when Smithy found himself losing oil from one of his three engines on his pioneering flight in the Southern Cross across the Tasman his co-pilot P.G. Taylor climbed out on the wing and somehow managed to decant enough precious oil from a Thermos into the engine oil tank to keep it going.

This (pictured) Thermos replica of the one which is said to have saved Smithy and his crew can be seen on the Thermos Shuttle Chef Thermo Cooker stand 146 on  the 1st  floor at the Caulfield Caravan Camping and Touring Supershow.

That was desperate original thought driven by the need to survive.

Less stressed original thought across an amazing range of products is on show at the Caulfield Caravan and Camping Supershow today. Wandering about with the GoSee camera we found fresh idea with quality as their first priority.

One example is Karakampa Caravans stand 357 outdoors near the main entrance. They made their market debut in 2009 with a lightweight 1300kg European styled caravan with sleek fibreglass exterior and ultra-modern interior.

Karakampa features smooth fibreglass moulded furniture, soft touch headlining, 2.5ml thick high quality vinyl flooring and other features such as a big shower and toilet, double island bed and air conditioning.

Karakampa is designed for two people to travel in complete comfort and some style.

Another original on stand 345B right opposite Hayman Reese is for those who suffer from towing mirror blues Clearview has some real practical thought for towing caravans, boats and big trailers.

They are straight bolt-on for the Nissan Patrol GU and the Toyota LandCruiser 100 Series.

They operate off the Nissan and Toyota electricals and standard plug-ins and can be extend for towing and slid back for normal running when not towing.

There is also a convex mirror which covers the blind spot. The Clearview has spares backup and was designed and tested in Australia.

GoSee at stand 233 on the 2nd floor has a good first impression and we will use the Clearview in an extended evaluation with our LandCruiser Sahara TD on one of our two GoSee Caravans the Jayco Sterling 23.

There are campers on show in from of the grandstand with a huge amount of room to move. Now there is even a stairway to the bed option.

Gascovers stand 105 on the 1st floor has turned the bland gas bottle into a personal statement and Space Saver stand 459 on the 2nd floor has come up with how to get more into the restricted space which goes with the camping, caravan and outdoor living experience.

Under the Hayman Reese Giant Towbar towing equipment for all occasions is being shown in action. There is more on the way. GoSee got an early picture of a Weight Distribution Hitch Security holder (see picture below) which locks onto the A frame at the front of caravans and trailers.

Here are some impressions from the Caulfield Caravan and Camping Supershow captured through the lens of the GoSee digital camera and fed straight to the GoSee website through our company designed Editorial Manager package:
